Be Market founder and owner Vade Sankar faced this basic question ten years ago, when a high stress job led to health concerns. He devoted himself to learning about good food for good health and discovering a better lifestyle.

Vade brought his research and analytical skills - honed by a long career in finance with a focus on risk management - into this quest. The Trinidad native labored three years in a test kitchen before opening Be Market. He formulated his Be Green elixir, which everyone liked. Even his personal trainer was impressed!

Now you will find Be Green amidst our diverse range of healthy foods from different regions. Be Market offers gourmet comfort foods that promote wellness and a healthy lifestyle. In addition to the packaged foods and groceries, there is a dine-in menu from the basement kitchen. A large communal table accommodating up to 14 people fills the center of our space. There’s also counter seating and two tabled standing areas.

We’re pleased to provide a cozy place in the heart of Lake Bluff, where you can shop, enjoy a glass of wine or beer, and meet people in a fun environment. The shop's feel is relaxed, the lighting is soft and low energy.

One of Vade's favorite things in the shop is a Himalayan salt lamp at the register. "It helps to cleanse the air," he says.
