Mt. Hope Congregational Church

About Us

Mt. Hope Congregational Church (a member of the National Association of Congregational Churches) is located in beautiful Livonia and holds a congregation of approximately 220 people of all backgrounds each week. Our pastor is Rev. Steven Schafer. Founded in 1889 in the Mt. Hope area of Detroit, the church moved to Livonia in 1964. Mt. Hope has always been a family-centered, neighborhood church, seeking to minister to people in the community in which it resides. Our members come from every walk of life and from every church background imaginable. Visitors and Christ-seekers are always welcome in our doors. Our services are relaxed, yet traditional where God is worshiped with reverence and love. We sing both traditional church hymns and contemporary praise songs. Other elements of the service include communion (first Sunday of the month), choir or special song, responsive reading, tithes and offerings, scripture lessons, and the sermon. Membership at Mt. Hope is based on a simple declaration that Christ is Lord in your life and does not require agreement with a man-made doctrinal statement. We invite you to join us. Mt. Hope is a great place for you and your family to experience the fellowship of God's people as we worship and grow together.
