A Love for Tradition – A Love for Family
George’s Senate Coney Island

A love for people and a restaurant that is infinite in family history and tradition...

Always present, George of George’s Senate Coney Island has a love for the family, history, and customers and most importantly – love for making sure that all who step through the glass doors are well taken care of...

This isn’t just about food, although food is that love that George loves so much. “It’s all from scratch” George told me when we sat down to talk about how and what I could write for him, his family and the story that has been told in the past.

This past has a present, from 1937 to now, it’s what keeps George and his family continuing to give back...

“I love to see people eat good food, fresh food” George explains to me. “Good food at a reasonable price, where you can bring in a whole family and have a good meal.”

I am here on a Wednesday, a day after the past two years after the pandemic, because I wanted to be. As a writer and customer of
George’s Senate Coney Island, the smell of food as you walk through the far front door greets me in my own history of the many times I have been here with my family. Sitting out on the patio, in the many summers that I would meet my Dad here for lunch and watch the golfers drive off the range, or sitting inside and enjoying the French Fries I would share with my Dad when I would have one of George’s famous Greek Salads...

I have worked in this business and know when I walk through the glass door, a warm inviting place... The sever that has been here for 20 years that I have come to know ~ is a place so familiar... A place in a comfortable seat. The same seat sits in three different places. Georges Senate Coney Island Restaurants in three locations of Livonia, Dearborn, Taylor and my well know space – Northville where the large corner booth hugs you as you sit down...

All three have their own character in waiting – the same place where “made from scratch” is how your Mother and my Mother used to cook. It’s how every Cook at George’s four restaurants cook. This is an Art Forum in Greek and American food – so entrusted in each city within our community – a staple within each mile that families travel to get here...

It’s where George also welcomes those who are by themselves on a holiday to sit down in that same comfortable booth to feel that same hug that I do and that you do for a free meal...

From your morning eggs and hashbrowns, to the famous Greek Salad made in any way you order – to Hamburgers, Roast Beef, Steak, and of course Georges famous French Fries that I love to share. A menu that is infinite in any kind of food you are in the mood for...

George knows tradition – George's Family knows tradition...
It’s the kind of tradition that keeps families and people coming back.
It’s the kind of tradition that Geroge and his Family loves to create everyday...
