Gleaners
As the third-oldest food bank in the United States, Gleaners Community Food Bank's mission has been to turn surplus food, which otherwise would go to waste, into millions of delicious meals for hungry people in southeastern Michigan. For more than a quarter of a century, Gleaners has been "nourishing communities by feeding hungry people." Since 1977, Gleaners Community Food Bank has grown from distributing just one or two million pounds of food a year to nearly 25 million pounds annually, equivalent to 65,000 meals per day.

About Us
The Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber's 5th annual Vine and Dine, held on September 24, 2008, at the Cranbrook Institute of Science, featured a fantastic evening of glittering fashion, fabulous food, fine wine and live entertainment. Vine and Dine is the Chamber's largest charity fundraiser of the year. This spectacular event supports Gleaners Community Food Bank, a Detroit-based, non-profit that supplies surplus, donated and low-cost food and care products to those in need in Southeast Michigan. In 2007, Vine and Dine raised enough money to provide 100,000 meals for the hungry in Oakland County. .
