This is a wine bar first, but only in name. The food is excellent, with unique options that you will not find on the menu of your local pub. Try the Arugula salad to start, and then move into a Pear, Gonzola & Walnut pizza. The Panini is also excellent and the starters include warm baked brie, croquertas and stuffed pimeientos del piquillo ensalda.
The Atmosphere is warm and inviting. Valuted celings give Grape Expectiatons (GE) a sense of space, but the warm colors and simple dcor makes you feel at home. The staff is great, with plenty of experience.
Of course, you cannot forget the wine. The proprieter works with a number of local distributors to give you a large variery of unique AND reasonablly priced wines. My wife and I always find something great to drink for the night.

Once the site of Park Smith’s gristmill, where lumber was cut and farm implements repaired, Peabody’s began as the local fruit market in 1946. It was Peabody’s Market, a thriving family-run market that served as grocer to its surrounding communities for twenty-nine years. Miles of apple, peach and pear orchards, maintained by Stan and Louise Peabody, combined with their hard-work and fortitude, were the “venture capital” that started Peabody’s . . .
In 1975, son, Jim Peabody, who always wanted to create a relaxing local upscale restaurant, turned the infamous barn structure into Peabody’s Fine Foods And Wet Goods. His daughters, Nancy, Susan and Barbara, along with head chef, Roger Sutton, joined Jim in this new endeavor. The restaurant was a welcome gathering spot in the growing city and became the destination place for quality food and a good time.
In 1980, a fire swept through the historic Peabody barn. It was a tragedy for the family and the community of local patrons. What didn’t perish, were Peabody’s structure and solid foundation. Its foundation: enduring values—earnestness, innovation, and loyalty, which for three generations served as trusted groundings for a Peabody tradition of social excellence. In six months, Peabody’s Restaurant was up and running.

On January 5, 1921, a small group of women officially committed themselves to the concept that "a house big enough for dances, mass meetings, concerts and plays" was needed in the community, and they pledged to raise funds to establish such a center. In April 1923, they rented a small house on the corner of Bates and Maple, officially establishing the first Community House. When the community recognized the need for a larger establishment, a campaign was initiated and on April 28, 1930, The Community House on Bates Street opened to the public. The original structure covered the area from Townsend Street on the south to the middle of the block, where the center chimney is now, on the north. The rest of the building (from the center chimney to Merrill Street) was added in October 1990. Over its 75 years and counting, in spite of overwhelming changes in our society, The Community House has stayed true to its mission of building a strong community. People of all ages and interests continue to be served by the many and varied programs and services offered by The Community House.

The South Lyon Hotel, as it has been known for decades, was built in the Village in 1867.
The property was formerly a cemetery and after the city council approved removal of the remains, at at cost of $2.50 each, construction began and the building was completed in late August.
The original name of the Hotel was the Commercial House owned and operated by Baker Hopkins. Four large fireplaces and gas lights heated and lit the inside (the first electric light did not reach South Lyon until 1923). When the train whistle blew, the town would turn out to watch as the Commercial House's buckboard and team would race down the street against competitors, each trying to book travelers and salesmen into their respective hotels. The Whipple House and the Harris House were also names which the building has been known as in its 137 years.
