The National City Birmingham Fine Art Festival took place May 10 and 11 in Shain Park in Birmingham.The juried art event was produced by the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center with support from the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber. The title sponsor of the event was National City Bank.
The event featured more than 250 artists exhibiting ceramics, digital art, fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, painting, photography, wood, and much more.

OUR HISTORY
Chapman House is a 5000 square foot, Country English Manor with Italian Renaissance side porches designed originally by MacFarlane, Maul and Lentz of Detroit. The exterior features extensive and elaborate use of stone, stucco and marble. The home was built by William Clark Chapman. Chapman, originally from Vermont, was one of Rochester's most prominent businessmen. He served as president of the village of Rochester from 1893-1895. He also served as president of the Rochester Savings Bank; however, his largest endeavor was the Western Knitting Mills, one of the largest in the midwest in its time. Construction on the home began in 1911 and was completed in 1914. The home remained in the Chapman family until 1973, when it was sold for commercial use. In 1989, the home was purchased by the McGowen family.
Nancy McGowen began her first design business in 1973 when she opened an antique and home decoration shop in an old hotel in eastern Ohio. In 1978, the McGowens relocated to Rochester, Michigan, and Nancy formed Nancy McGowen Antiques and Interiors the following year. McGowen Associates was formed in 1985 to expand design services and offer a retail shop. Nancy had always dreamed of creating an environment that combined her design business with a retail setting to offer a "living studio" of the antiques and quality home accessories. That dream became reality with the establishment of Chapman House. After nine months of restoration, Chapman House opened creating the perfect setting to display classic home furnishings, accessories and gifts. Since 1989, Chapman House and McGowen Associates have continued to expand their services and product line to include full interior design services, in home accessory services, permanent custom floral design, custom framing, and holiday decorating.
Chapman House truly lives as a reminder that the classics will always be timeless and historically memorable, serving as a template for creativity for generations to come.
